Deep dives

The SEF teams aims to build long term collaborations with users, working together through individual interactions such as deep dives and case studies.

A Deep Dive is a structured engagement aimed at helping stakeholders to clearly capture their specific requirements for Earth Observation, based on their working practices and what they are trying to achieve. As well as capturing key priorities we also seek to understand the stakeholder's current use of geospatial data, internal technical capacity, planning and decision-making processes. Systematically capturing this information allows the SEF to better support stakeholders, while also highlighting where further R&D is needed.

A Case Study is a specific example where EO is applied to a targeted use case defined by the stakeholder, as a proof of concept or as a first step towards an operational workflow. The SEF works closely with the user to support them though the development of the case study, either directly or by making connections to other actors in the EO ecosystem.

These interactions can be done remotely or through site visits, as appropriate. Specific requirements (e.g. the use of a local language) can usually be accommodated.

Typically we start with a general introductory call and use this to capture needs and define some next steps, which could include training or definition of a potential case study. However this approach should be seen as a guideline: the aim is not to be overly prescriptive, but rather to understand what would be useful for the stakeholder and to see how best the SEF can help them to achieve this.

Please contact us if you are interested in setting up an introductory call to discuss your needs.
